This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the “Mikado” found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2. The locomotive and the tender have been custom painted by the previous owner. The locomotive and tender show scratches and paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis.
